Here's a summary:

Olapa's Blue is a book set in 1862, Kentucky.  Thirteen-year-old Olapa has known only one life, the quiet rhythms of plantation life surrounded by peach trees, where she works beside her mother in the Ashley family kitchen.  Her father and brother were sold away when she was a baby.  For a time her world feels gentle; until the day it isn't.   When Master Ashley decides to sell her as a breeding girl, Olapa's future is no longer her own.  In a single desperate act of love her mother sends her away into the hidden network of the Underground Railroad.  Alone and hunted Olapa is thrust into a secret world of whispered directions, coded quilts, and strangers who risk everything to guide her forward.  Each step carries danger.  Each symbol holds meaning.  And every choice could lead her closer to freedom... or back into captivity.  Some paths are hidden in plain sight. Olapa's path is stitched in courage.
